MySpace - Friend Aliases is a Greasemonkey user script which gives you the ability to change the display name of any user on your friend's list. The script accomplishes this by adding new functionality to your Edit Friends page.
This script requires the Firefox web browser and the Greasemonkey extension.
- You can change your friend's display names to anything that you desire.
- Multiple user names can be modified at the same time.
- These changes only appear to you and not to other users viewing your profile.
- This script only works when using the Edit Friends link from your home page.
- MySpace - Friend Aliases adds a new feature to the Edit Friends section of your MySpace home page.
- This new feature allows you to modify the alias, or display name, of anyone on your friend's list.
- When editing your friends, an edit field is shown directly under each user's thumbnail image.
- To change the current name of a user, type the desired name in the appropriate edit field and press Enter.
- The new name will immediately be applied to that user and will appear on your home page as well as in your profile.
- A user's name can be reverted back to its original form by leaving the edit field blank and hitting Enter.
Some MySpace users tend to frequently change their aliases. Others like to use strange display characters or what you may consider ridiculous names. This type of behavior from people on your friend's list can serve as an annoyance and can make it tough at times to keep track of who's who. Wouldn't it be great if you could control these display names? Wouldn't life be a lot easier if your buddy Joe always showed up in your friend's list as, simply, "Joe"?
MySpace - Friend Aliases is a great script as it lets you control the names of all of your friends. This makes your time on MySpace more organized, especially if you have a large number of friends. Changes are very easy to make, and going back to a user's original name can be done in just a few seconds. Tweaking MySpace with user scripts helps for a better experience, and this definitely ranks up there as one of the more useful modifications.
