Paypal Gives Safari Users a Scare

Monday April 21, 2008

Online payment processor Paypal caused quite a stir among Mac enthusiasts late last week when it seemed that the company was set to block users of the Safari browser from accessing their site. Paypal first questioned the safety of Safari last month, stating that Apple's browser lacked important anti-phishing features to protect its users.

Well, it appears that Safari surfers on both the Macintosh and Windows platforms can breathe a little easier. Paypal spokesperson Michael Oldenburg has cleared things up by stating that Paypal would not be blocking Safari, or any other current popular browser for that matter. It appears that the company is instead looking to banish antiquated browsers, such as Internet Explorer 4, from accessing its site. This makes a lot more sense, especially considering that Safari is not only the default browser for OS X but is slowly gaining popularity in the Windows world as well.
