A Comparison of Web Browsers for Windows

Printing Web Pages and Summary

One upgrade in IE 7 that can prove to be very convenient is in the realm of printing. Some of the print options such as adjustable margins and customizable headers/footers are found in Firefox as well. However, IE takes things a step further with multiple page previews (up to 12 pages) as well as a feature that automatically shrinks most web page text allowing all content to appear on your printout.

Firefox 2.0 vs. IE 7 - Summary

With past versions of these two browsers, my decision to pick the best one would have probably been a slam dunk for Mozilla Firefox. That is no longer the case, however, as Internet Explorer 7 brings with it a lot of appealing features. Although it may be too soon to tell, I still feel that Firefox 2.0 has the upper hand when it comes to security even with the major flaw that was discovered shortly after its public release. In regards to a lot of what are now considered standard features such as tabs and RSS feeds, both browsers are very comparable. If you plan to use Windows Vista, you may prefer IE better because of its intimacy with the operating system. On the other hand, if you are a fan of add-ons, Firefox offers a wide variety as a result of its booming developer community. With that said, Internet Explorer does offer a fair share of quality add-ons as well.

As you now know, each of these browsers carries with it unique features such as Firefox's internal spell-checking of web form entries. Since both products are seemingly so close feature-wise, I recommend you give them both a test run. There are no detrimental effects to having both browsers installed at the same time and you may find yourself using both for different purposes. You may also find that over time your allegiance will lie with one browser in particular. Which one do I think is better? At this point, it is too tough to call!
