Another way to open a tab is directly via a link on a web page. In the example below, we would like to open the link to the Autos section of About.com in a new tab. This is an alternative to just clicking on the link itself and having it open in a new browser window. Opening new tabs from links is an extremely useful feature of tabbed browsing.
In order to do this, you must first hover your cursor over the link you desire, in the same manner you would if you were about to click said link. If you are using a standard one-button mouse, hold down your Control key and click the link. If you are using a two-button mouse, right click on the link. At this point, you will see a drop-down menu giving you several choices. Choose the option entitled "Open Link in New Tab".
