How to Manage Search Engines In Opera 9 For Macintosh OS X

Search Engine Keywords

At this point you should see the Preferences window overlaying your browser. Click on the Search tab if it is not already selected. You will notice that the main section of the window now contains a list of various search engines, each accompanied by an icon and a keyword.

A search engine's keyword is used by Opera to allow users to perform Web searches from within the browser's address bar (the same location that a web site's URL is entered or displayed). For example, if eBay's keyword is set to e then entering the following syntax in the address bar will search the auction site for iPods: e iPods.
