How to Manage Search Engines in Maxthon for Windows

Details for the search engine which you selected in the previous step should now be displayed, as shown in the example above. Each item is editable, and your changes can be committed by clicking on OK. These components are as follows.

  • Name: A required field, this is the name assigned to the respective search engine.

  • Search URL: Modifying the Search URL value allows you to assign specific search parameters. This is only recommended for advanced users.

  • Alias: The only optional component in this window, Alias can be very useful. Any value placed in this field can then be utilized as a shortcut in the browser's address bar. For example, assigning a value of y in the example above would then allow the following syntax in Maxthon's Address Bar: y browser add-ons. This string would then return Yahoo's search results for browser add-ons.
