The Bottom Line
MySpace - Remove extra RE: is a Greasemonkey user script that removes the extra "RE:" automatically placed in the subject line of correspondence within the MySpace Mail Center.
This script requires the Firefox web browser and the Greasemonkey extension.
Pros
- The additional "RE:" statements are quite unnecessary once a message thread reaches a decent size.
- You can still easily see the original subject of a message that has been replied to several times.
Cons
- There are no negatives, unless you like having the extra "RE:" statements cluttering your subjects.
Description
- When a message thread has reached two or more replies, MySpace adds an extra "RE:" to the subject line for each reply.
- This script removes the extra "RE:" each time it is added, ensuring a maximum of one "RE:" per subject line.
- The body of your messages remains intact.
Guide Review - MySpace - Remove extra RE:
As with other types of email, I tend to reply back and forth to the same message several times when using MySpace Mail Center. This is common behavior when having a discussion. However, for some reason MySpace feels the need to append another "RE:" each time myself or the person I am corresponding with decides to respond. After a while, the subject line of the message looks downright ridiculous with a string of characters as long as a line for World Series tickets! Personally I never saw the logic behind this and thanks to this user script I no longer have to. If you share these feelings and would like to rid yourself of this unnecessary burden, install this script today.
