The Bottom Line

MySpaceMusicCleanup is a Greasemonkey user script that removes most of the content from the main page of MySpace Music. The search box and important navigational links are still displayed.

This script requires the Firefox web browser and the Greasemonkey extension.

Pros
  • You can easily search MySpace Music without all of the ads and featured items getting in the way.
  • The layout of the revamped page is very neat and well designed.
Cons
  • On slower connections the removed items are actually visible in your browser for several seconds.
  • By suppressing most of the content, you may miss out on good featured items and upcoming events.

Sometimes you just want the basics. When it comes to navigating MySpace Music's enormous collection of artists and songs, less can actually be more. The main page does contain some pretty cool stuff from time to time, such as tour dates you weren't aware of and new videos from artists on the rise. However, the page itself can be a bit chaotic with all of its advertisements and images. MySpace Music is a phenomenal resource for finding budding stars as well as established artists and if you just want access to the basic search then this script does a good job of tidying things up for you.
