This article explains how to save a web page in Google Chrome. Depending on how the page is designed, this may include all corresponding code, as well as image files.

How to Save a Page in Google Chrome

Go to a web page in Chrome and follow these steps:

  1. Select the Menu icon (three vertical dots).

  2. When the dropdown menu appears, hover your pointer over the More tools option to open a submenu, and then select Save Page As.

  3. A Save File dialog box will appear.

    Its appearance varies depending on your operating system.

  4. Next to Save As, change the web page's name if you don't want to use the one that appears in the name field.

  5. Select where you want to save the web page and its accompanying files, and then select Save.

  6. If you navigate to the folder where you saved the file, you'll see an HTML file of the web page and, in many cases, an accompanying folder that contains code, plug-ins, and other resources used in the creation of the web page.

Keyboard Shortcuts to Save a Web Page

To save time, try using a Chrome keyboard shortcut to save a web page. Depending on your platform, you may be able to specify HTML only or Complete, which downloads the supporting files.

If you choose the Complete option, you may see more supporting files than the ones that are downloaded when you use the Menu icon.

Here are the shortcuts for saving a web page in Chrome:

  • For Chrome OS and Windows, use Ctrl+S.
  • For macOS, use Command+S.

Select the destination and format in the window that opens to save the file to your computer.

You may also want to save a page as a Chrome bookmark or a Windows shortcut, or even save a web page as a PDF.
