The Downloads window itself contains some very useful information regarding current, completed, and failed downloads.
First, in the title bar of the window, you will find a progress summary of all active downloads which contains the percentage complete as well as the number of files currently being retrieved. In the example below, 1 file is being downloaded and it is 29% complete.
