Clear Private Data Dialog - Part 2

  • Browsing History: Browsing history keeps a record of all web sites that you have visited. You can view this record by choosing History from the Firefox menu.

  • Download History: Firefox's Download Manager keeps a record of every file that you download through the browser.

  • Saved Form and Search History: Anytime you enter information into a form on a website, Firefox stores some of that data. For example, you may have noticed when filling out your name in a form that after typing the first letter or two your entire name becomes populated in the field. This is because Firefox has stored your name from entry in a previous form. Although this can be very convenient, it can also become an obvious privacy issue. Firefox also maintains a record of searches that you have initiated. These will also be cleared by selecting this option.

  • Cache: Firefox uses its cache to store images, pages, and URLs of recently visited web pages. By using the cache, the browser can load these pages must faster on subsequent visits to the site by loading the images, etc. locally from the cache rather than from the web server itself.
