TraceMonkey is Firefox 3.1's new JavaScript rendering engine. In Firefox 3.1 Beta 1, TraceMonkey is disabled by default. This tutorial explains how to activate it.

Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 2 Minutes
Here's How:
  1. Open Firefox 3.1 Beta 1.
  2. Type about:config into the browser's Smart Location Bar, or "Awesome Bar". Hit Enter.
  3. Scroll down until you have located the following Preference Name: javascript.options.jit.content. Select this name and double-click on it.
  4. You should now notice that the value of this preference's Status field has changed to 'user set' and its Value field has changed to 'true'.
  5. Close the current tab. TraceMonkey has now been activated. To disable it, repeat steps 1-4 and verify that the preference's Value field is set to 'false'.
