You should now see the Tabs options. The first item in this window is the following: New pages should be opened in:. There are two choices here, activated by radio buttons. The first, a new window, disables tabbed browsing as it instructs the browser to open every new web page in a different Firefox window. The second, a new tab, is selected by default and enables tabbed browsing as it instructs the browser to open every new web page in a new tab in the current Firefox window.
At the bottom of the window are four items which are activated and deactivated by checkbox. They are as follows.
- Warn me when closing multiple tabs: Activated by default, this option causes Firefox to issue a warning when you attempt to close a Firefox window that contains multiple open tabs.
- Warn me when opening multiple tabs might slow down Firefox: Activated by default, this option causes Firefox to issue a warning when an excessively large number of tabs have been opened.
- Always show the tab bar: Deactivated by default, this option causes Firefox to always show the tab bar in your browser window even if only one web page is open at the moment.
- When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately: Deactivated by default, this option causes Firefox to make a new tab the active one as soon as it is created. When this option is not selected, a new tab must be clicked on to activate it within the Firefox window.
