Web Browser Add-On of the Day
April 2009

By Scott Orgera, About.com

Each day a different Web browser add-on is featured here with a brief description and a link to a detailed profile.

1. April 1 - Fission

Fission is a Firefox add-on which incorporates the browser's progress bar with its address bar, similar to the display in Apple's Safari browser. The progress of loading a webpage is noted by a dynamic colored bar that is shown behind the current page's URL.

2. April 2 - ESPN

ESPN adds the search engine for ESPN.com to your browser's built-in Search Box. Get the latest sports news, scores, and highlights.

3. April 3 - GooglePreview

GooglePreview enhances both Google and Yahoo search results. Thumbnail preview images are shown next to each result, giving you an idea of what a site actually looks like before clicking on its link.

4. April 4- Tinseltown

Tinseltown transforms your browser into a virtual Winter wonderland. Fresh falling snow spruces up various sections while your navigational buttons are replaced with Christmas trees, reindeer, stockings, ginger bread men, and even Santa's hat.

5. April 5 - Pacman

A derivative of the 1980's mega-classic arcade game, the Pacman add-on takes you back in the day by letting you chomp on pellets and eat fruit right in your browser window.

6. April 6 - Firefox Companion for eBay

The Firefox Companion for eBay integrates a full-fledged interface to the popular auction site right in your browser's Sidebar. This add-on gives you the ability to easily manage and monitor active as well as completed auctions from both buyer and seller perspectives.

7. April 7 - Business.Com

Business.com adds the search engine for Business.com to your browser's built-in Search Box. Business.com is the leading business search engine and directory and pay-per-click advertising network serving more than 40 million unique business users and thousands of advertisers every month.

8. April 8 - Xoom

Xoom lets you launch a car racing game right from your browser window. Navigate the course against three computer-driven opponents in an attempt to finish in first place.

9. April 9 - Xultris

Xultris is an add-on which lets you launch a Tetris-style game right from your browser window. It is a simple, fun, and easy to use rendition of the timeless classic.

10. April 10 - Number Madness

This add-on is a game in which you start with a jumbled grid of numbers. Your goal is to arrange the numbers in the correct order, from left to right and top to bottom in the least amount of steps.
