For the seventh year in a row we have opened voting for the About.com Readers' Choice Awards, designed to honor the best products, features and services across many diverse categories. This is the fifth year that About Web Browsers is participating in the awards program, and we're excited to once again let the readers' voices be heard. Between February 19 and March 19, readers can pledge their allegiance to their favorite browsers and browser-related software.
The options in each browser-related category were selected based upon a combination of reader feedback, industry expert input and overall popularity.
The Best Overall (Non-Security) Add-On category features browser add-ons, plug-ins or extensions not related to privacy or security. Privacy and security-related add-ons were given their own separate category. Add-ons which run on multiple browsers and platforms, as well as those only compatible with a specific configuration were allowed. The five that made the cut are certainly a versatile bunch, offering functionality improvements in several areas.
Note: We have internal checks in place to detect fraudulent voting activity, and in some cases the poll results shown during voting may not reflect the accurate final counts used to determine winners.
