For the second time in just six days, Mozilla has released a critical update to its Firefox browser. A security fix included in last week's update, Firefox 3.0.9, introduced an issue which causes frequent crashes. Users running the HTML Validator add-on are especially susceptible to these crashes, which are caused by memory corruption and could theoretically be exploited to allow remote code execution. This vulnerability has been corrected in today's 3.0.10 update, as well as what Mozilla classified as a "major stability issue". Details of this stability issue were not released but it is highly recommended that you upgrade to Firefox 3.0.10 via your browser or through the official download site as soon as possible.
