Parental Controls for the iPhone Browser

Saturday January 10, 2009

The growing popularity of both the iPhone and iPod touch has presented a serious problem for parents. Several effective tools are available to control what their children view online both at home and in school. However, there really isn't any way to stop these kids from accessing adult content via the portable Safari browser found on their Apple devices. If they are slick enough to clear their tracks afterward, Mom and Dad would be none the wiser.

Help is on the way in the form of Safe Eyes Mobile, an iPhone and iPod touch app that filters the type of content that can be displayed. Safe Eyes Mobile provides the same Safari browsing experience but blocks blacklisted sites such as those containing pornography. Trying to access one of these will result in the display of a Website Denied message. InternetSafety.com, the company behind Safe Eyes, has posted a demo of the app in action.
