Firefox Reaches 20% Market Share

For the first time since its release back in 2004, Mozilla's Firefox has captured more than 20% of the Web browser market. According to a recent report by Net Applications, Firefox passed the 20% mark in November and currently holds a 21.34% piece of the virtual pie.
"Reaching 20 percent worldwide market share is a significant milestone for Firefox and Mozilla," said CEO John Lilly. "It's a huge achievement by the global Mozilla community, one that just a few years ago most would have considered impossible."
Microsoft's Internet Explorer still holds the crown, claiming just under 70% of the globe's Web surfers. However, this is the lowest percentage associated with IE in many years. Coming in at a distant third is Safari with a 7.93% share.

Firefox has not made steady gains since though (as of March). Hopefully they will do better with their next major release.
