It's Official! Chrome Comes Out of Beta

Thursday December 11, 2008

The popularity of Google Chrome has really taken off since its first beta release three months ago. The browser now boasts over 10 million active users and has proven that it can compete with the big boys like Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Thursday marked a major development milestone as the beta label was removed. Although many Web surfers have already made it their everyday browser, this legitimizes things as Chrome is now officially a public release. The future looks bright, especially with an extensions platform currently in development. Once a respectable number of add-ons become available Chrome has the potential to grab a significant piece of the browser market.
