A Web Browser Makeover

Wednesday December 3, 2008

Do you feel like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day each time you launch your browser? Are you tired of the same old look and feel? There are many tools available to help spice things up. Whether you explore with IE, browse with Firefox, or surf with Chrome, the following add-ons offer a fresh coat of paint and may be just what the doctor ordered.

  • NASA Night Launch
    five stars
NASA Night Launch gives Firefox a very dark, sleek overall look. It contrasts well if you are running with a dark desktop and goes above and beyond what many standard themes provide.

  • Quero Toolbar
    four and a half stars
Quero Toolbar for Internet Explorer is intended to be used as a replacement for IE's address bar.

  • Colorful Tabs
    four stars
ColorfulTabs displays each Firefox tab as a different color in a scheme that can be set to randomize, use a default palette, or even generate based on domain name.

  • No Icons
    three and a half stars
No Icons is a Google Chrome add-on that substitutes your browser's toolbar icons with relevant text detailing what each button actually does.
