Mozilla Updates Firefox 2 and 3

Thursday November 13, 2008

Significant updates to both the Firefox 2 and Firefox 3 browsers were released yesterday, with security being the main focus for each. Out of the multiple vulnerabilities fixed, four that were marked critical span both version 2.0.0.18 and 3.0.4. Many of these resolved flaws could result in arbitrary code execution as well as image and information stealing if exploited properly. Because of this, Firefox users are encouraged to upgrade their browsers right away.

Yesterday's updates weren't solely for security purposes. Since its release back in June, Firefox 3 has had issues saving certain password strings as well as non-HTTP proxy settings. Both of these defects have been addressed in 3.0.4. In addition, eight new languages have been added to the latest build, including the official releases for Icelandic and Thai and beta versions of several others.

Users can upgrade to the latest version via their browser or through Firefox's official download site.
