Chrome Browser Port Released for Mac and Linux

Wednesday September 17, 2008

CodeWeavers, a company which makes it possible to use Windows software on the Mac OS X and Linux platforms, has released CrossOver Chromium. A port of the open source Chromium browser, which is the basis for the recently released Google Chrome, Crossover Chromium runs natively on both Mac and Linux.

The company is offering Crossover Chromium as a proof-of-concept so that non-Windows users can get their hands on this new open source browser. It is not recommended that you use this as your main browser just yet, as it is still in the very early beta stages and was released more to prove the point that it could be done than anything else. However, if you do not have access to a Windows machine and haven't gotten a chance to play around with Google Chrome then you may want to take Crossover Chromium for a spin.
