Camino Browser Receives a Stability Update

Saturday May 24, 2008

Camino, a native OS X browser which utilizes Gecko, was updated this past week to address some security and stability issues. Version 1.6.1 fixes a problem in which the browser was crashing whenever a user attempted to add a search engine that utilized the POST method. Also, if the browser is unable to add a search engine, Camino will now display more useful error messages detailing the reason for the specific failure. Camino 1.6.1 also restores compatibility with Adobe Dreamweaver and other applications that call on a deprecated AppleEvent to open documents within the browser. This was causing headaches, for Web developers in particular, in the previous Camino release.

Camino users are encouraged to download 1.6.1, which also sports improved robustness of the code used to access OS X's Keychain, as soon as possible.
