Safari Push Causing Headaches for Companies

Monday April 7, 2008

Apple caused some commotion a couple of weeks back with the installation methods of its latest Safari for Windows browser. In a move that many insiders and everyday users considered sneaky, their software update mechanism forced users to take an active role in opting-out lest they unknowingly install the browser on their PCs.

It appears that network administrators for several companies have run into a problem now, as many of their users are installing Safari for Windows without realizing it. For those who run networks, security is a major concern and unapproved software is always a risk. IDG News's Robert McMillan recently spoke with companies affected by the issue.

Safari for Windows also made news last week when details about two critical security flaws were released.
