Microsoft to Revamp Mobile Version of IE

Sunday April 6, 2008

In what looks like an effort to keep up with the rapidly progressing mobile landscape, Microsoft announced this week that it will be making major renovations to its handheld version of Internet Explorer. Users of the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system will have access to a browser, due out later this year, that mirrors the full rendering of the IE6 desktop version. By supporting not only Ajax applications but Flash and Silverlight as well, this browser aims to give the mobile user an experience similar to the one they've grown accustomed to on their PC. A formidable list of mobile operators and device makers have already signed on to support Windows Mobile 6.1, but only time will tell if the public embraces this latest rendition of IE.
