Mozilla Patches Several Firefox Security Flaws
An update to the Firefox 2 Web browser was released yesterday, addressing a group of security and stability issues. Out of the six security advisories, two were labeled
critical. The first involved browser crashes that showed evidence of memory corruption. Used under the correct circumstances, these could be exploited to run arbitrary code on a victim's machine. The second corrected a series of vulnerabilities that allowed maliciously crafted JavaScript to run with elevated privileges within Firefox. These scripts could potentially lead to arbitrary code execution as well as XSS. Some of the other moderately serious issues patched in version 2.0.0.13 pertained to spoofing HTTP Referrers as well as form elements such as login prompts.
As always, it is important to upgrade your browser to this latest version as soon as possible. Firefox 2.0.0.13 should be downloaded from Mozilla's official site.
