A Browser for the Kids

Thursday March 20, 2008

Unfortunately, the Web has become a dangerous place for unsupervised children. Long gone are the days where you can feel comfortable about letting your son or daughter have free reign on the computer. A seemingly infinite amount of Web sites cannot be considered kid friendly, resulting in the creation of many parental control applications and services.

The latest innovation to enter this realm is KidZui, a Web browser which provides access to over half a million sites, pictures, and videos which are safe for children. A group of trained parents and teachers have collaborated to collect safe content to be displayed in the browser, giving kids the ability to surf the Web on their own. By creating a parent account, you are given the option to specify allowed content even further. Reports and other tools not only allow you to add content to your kids' favorites but to keep in tune with what their interests are. You can easily take as little or as much control as you want over your child's surfing habits without being overbearing. This balance can serve to create an optimal Internet experience.

KidZui is available on a 30-day free trial basis, after which a monthly or yearly fee is required. Back in October of last year, Miss America Lauren Nelson launched her own children's browser which allowed access to pre-approved sites.
