Government Warns of Internet Explorer Vulnerability

Aurigma's ImageUploader ActiveX control, used to post images to popular sites such as MySpace and Facebook, contains stack buffer overflow vulnerabilities that can give an attacker the ability to execute arbitrary code on your computer. US-CERT, the Department of Homeland Security's Computer Emergency Readiness Team, issued details of this flaw which affects those who use the Internet Explorer browser. An attacker can exploit the vulnerability by tricking a user into viewing a specially crafted HTML document, whether it be a Web page, email message, or an attachment. CERT recommends disabling ActiveX controls in IE's Internet Zone until a better solution is released. In the meantime, you may also want to switch to an alternative browser such as Firefox or Opera.
