Netscape Reverts Back To Original Name

Wednesday May 9, 2007
AOL has decided to bring back the Navigator label for the upcoming release in the long-running Netscape web browser series. Way back in 1994 Netscape Navigator 1 was released, but over time the browser's name was trimmed down to simply Netscape. Now, in an effort to distinguish it from other Netscape products such as their news portal, the company will coin the next major release Navigator 9. Due out later this year, the browser will support Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms.
