Dell has stated that the purpose of their Ideastorm web site is to build an online community that brings all of us closer to the creative side of technology by allowing us to share ideas and interest with other customers and Dell experts. They also expressed the hope that the site would foster a candid and robust conversation about the public's ideas. Firefox users have definitely answered the call in this respect. A petition, introduced on Ideastorm February 19, suggests that the PC manufacturer pre-install Firefox as the default web browser on all of its computers going forward.
The passion of the Mozilla community has never really been questioned, but the response to this suggestion has been especially impressive. With a bit of a push from Spread Firefox!, the petition had received just short of 75,000 votes at the time of this post. The only idea on the site with more support at the moment is a campaign to include OpenOffice on all Dell PCs.
